Cookie Time: Joy’s Sugar Cookies

I got this recipe about 20 years ago from a cyber-buddy named Joy, and these have been a staple in my home ever since. These cookies are super-easy and really delicious!

This recipe makes about 5 dozen cookies.

Joy’s Sugar Cookies

Joys Sugar Cookies1 cup sugar
1 stick margarine
1/2 cup Crisco
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 oz. rainbow sprinkles

Mix all ingredients with an electric mixer (it’s fine to put everything in at once and let it go if you have a heavy-duty mixer).
Roll dough into balls about the size of a walnut. (1/2 oz. each)
Dip each cookie into sugar, sprinkles or ground nuts. (Around here, sprinkles are usually the way to go!)
Place on cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
Bake at 375 for 10 minutes.

Serving size = 1 cookie.
